In advance of GoGuardian’s release of Beacon, a new suicide prevention tool built for schools, GoGuardian is partnering with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to provide your school with free, in-person suicide prevention training through AFSP’s More Than Sad program.
The More Than Sad training program has provided over a million students and educators across the country with a greater understanding of mental health and suicide prevention. More Than Sad can help you and your school community recognize the signs of suicide, and take critical steps to get help for at-risk students.
You can request a training for school faculty, students, and/or their families, at no cost to your school.
As a reminder, each of these trainings are designed to meet the needs of the corresponding stakeholders.
Parent: This program teaches parents how to recognize signs of depression and other mental health problems, initiate a conversation about mental health with their child, and get help.
Student: This program teaches teens to recognize the signs of depression in themselves and others, challenges the stigma surrounding depression, and demystifies the treatment process.
Faculty: This program teaches educators to recognize signs of mental health distress in students and refer them for help. The program complies with the requirements for teacher education suicide prevention training in many states.
